Gifts from the heart Part 2

A couple of posts back I mentioned a twist on a paper bag mini! Well here you go. I was really wanting to make a mini, but I don't really have a lot of pics of the person I wast gifting it to. Also, she is 10 and a special needs child, so I wanted something fun and simple. I recently made a sticker chart for my daughter by laminating some scrapbook paper. You probably realize where I am going with this. I made a sticker book out of the mini!

What would be the pull out photo mats are now laminated and ready for stickers. And the paper covered surfaces are perfect for doodles and notes. I know Bridget will love this book. And of course I included various sticker sheets to get her started :)

Gifts from the heart <3 part 1

I really enjoy giving gifts I have made. Whether it is a simple card, an entire scrapbook or something in between. There is just something about giving, and receiving, handmade gifts that just doesn't compare to store bought.
In November 2008 a good friend of mine had her first child. I wanted to give her something extra special. At the time I was also pregnant (1st trimester) so it took awhile to finish. However I did get it done. I took a couple of photos of the finished product that I will share below.
My scrapping style is very simple. I like matching things, and using page kits. I do own a cricut expression, however I don't use it as much as I would like.
So now I leave you with a few photos of the 8 1/2 x 11 book I gave her.

Spring means flowers!

Ok so I just love making paper flowers. I discovered them one day when I was super stressed. And in the end I realized they are a great stress reliever, well when my daughter isn't climbing all over me. Today is my last day off from work for a few days and I wanted to enjoy it. I sat down, grabbed a handful of scraps and some tools. I just learned a new technique a few days ago and wanted to try it out. I cut several 8 point flowers out by hand. I layered them, and did a little "sloppy" inking. In the end I loved the product the colors ended up being more autumn than spring, but I still love it.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Hey to all of you Irish, and non-Irish :) I am partly, if not mostly Irish. My husband is at least half Irish. So anyway, I will be making corned beef and cabbage and potatoes for dinner tonight! Also at some point I plan on making a card or 2. Birthday cards to be exact. I will also be posting again with a great idea I had, and completed that involved a paperbag mini album. :) so check back later for more great stuff.

I'm jumping back in!

I know I have not posted in a long time. I apologize. This is basically just going to be updates!
1. I got a great new job! I am now a supervisor!
2. My daughter is on the potty training band wagon.
3. I am starting a new crafty endeavor!

1: At this moment I am currently working both jobs. 3 weekdays left until I am just doing the new one. I am a coordinator at a Drop-in Center for mental health consumers.
2.In late January Abbi started using the potty regularly. (Yay)! The downside was that we were leaving for vacation the next day. So we tried to keep it going through the trip. She did awesome....until we all came down with the flu while in NYC! Ugh! Needless to say her progress was delayed a bit and we are def still struggling. But I am still very determined to get it done by June!
3: My crafty endeavor will have to be a surprise.

Bracing for the storm!

So I live in path of Hurricane Sandy...! For the past 2 days I have been preparing my house for almost any scenario. We live near a small creek that flooded a decent amt during Irene. I am hoping that if we lose power it will only be 1 day! Our power company says to be prepared for 10 days without power!!! We have a lot of water, some complete nutrition bars for us and pediasure and other easy to eat foods for our daughter plus cans of soup and stuff. We also bought sterno cans and we have bread and peanut butter. We are finishing up showers just in case we can't. Once that is finished we are filling our bathtub with water so that we can at least flush the toilet. I also filled the freezer with water bottles (filled with tap water) so that will help it stay cold longer. I also put a jug in there that I plan to put in the fridge.


Things I don't understand is people buying milk and eggs??? Seriously if you don't have power all that will go bad... But any way hope everyone will stay safe!

My Dream

Today I'm just going to post about my dreams.
I would absolutely LOVE to have a little shop where people can come and crop for $3 an hour use my "tools" such as die-cutting machines, stamps, etc. have a weekly project. Sell scrapbook supplies. I would support small business and try not to sell "big retail" brands. Maybe sell my creations and others and stuff... Oh that would be the BEST thing in my life. I cannot wait for the day this can happen. Anyone with advice please comment or e-mail.

Sad News!

5 Minute Card

Ok so I had just a few minutes to throw together a Birthday Card!
I don't like to buy pre-cut bases when I can make them so easily...
I had some cut and folded :)
Dark purple cardstock base (JoAnns)
The layer is from a party/celebration kit I got a LONG time ago at The RagShop. I used a sentiment stamp that I also got a JoAnns ($1 bin). And the little cupcake is K&Company I believe I got it at Hobby Lobby. And I cannot recall where the bling is from.

Challenge #5

Here is challenge 5!
I was just making the deadline before... But now I will elaborate! The challenge was to only use PAPER and adhesive.
No ribbon, ink, brads, buttons... Nothing! Since I really enjoy using my paper flowers that was my go to embellishment. I just glued the layers to each other. Used a small strip of the same color of my mat at the top. And I used a cute pic of my darling daughter. Hope you enjoy!

Challenge #4

So my Internet was acting up and I could not participate in #3 but here is #4. The challenge was to use 7 circles and the color teal. So here it is!

So I purchased a Mystery Box for the Cropped Event ( http://www.croppedevent.com ) and I have finally finished my first 2 challenges! I truly work best under pressure.
The pink card is for the first challenge. We had to use a masking technique and/or model it after a specific card on the DVD we were provided.

And the second challenge was to use a sheet of paper layerz as if it were 9 separate layouts.

Lucy Paper!

So I was going to do the Lucy WOTG today, I didn't particularly like the layout though. So I looked through some other sketches I had. I chose one from the Imagine Program.

New CTMH idea book!!!

Big news from CTMH today lots and lots of changes!
A NEW Cricut bundle will be available August 1st! As well as the art philosophy bundle. So I took a quick look at the idea book either today and it looks super awesome as soon as I receive my copies I will do a video on YouTube!
